Recently, I've been seeing a lot of library books come back to the library with water damage on them. Even though it's accidental, the students still must pay for the book if it gets wet. This is because the water creates mold on the pages and cover. Once it's gotten wet, a book cannot go back out onto the library shelves. How can we prevent this problem? By making sure the library books are safe and protected when they are in students' backpacks. Put your book in its own compartment, or better yet, slip the book into a Ziplock baggie to protect it in the backpack. Happy reading!
